I am a work-at-home-mum who, as well as looking after my lovely son and partner, in my spare time, make original cloth nappies from preloved clothing.
The clothing (trousers, jeans, t'shirts, pyjamas, sweatshirts etc) is sourced from friends, family and local charity shops. It may only have a slight mark, button missing, tiny rip or just be out of favour this season, but is unusable to the shop or not wanted by friends. I try to use as much cotton as possible which provides natural softness and absorbency in the nappy. Because the clothing is recycled to provide fabric, there may be a few imperfections, which just add to the character of the nappy - no two Phoenix Nappies are the same, each one is a work of art! The nappies are pocket style (supplied with their own convertible insert, made from the same cotton materials as the nappy and in two parts for flexibility and faster drying) and come in Small (9-12lb), Medium (11-20lb) and Large 15-35lb). The legs and waist have fully enclosed elastic for comfort and containment. You will need a cover to wear over the nappy - waterproof wool soakers and longies provide a very natural nappy solution.
